Introduction

Natural tissues and organs exhibit a three-dimensional (3D) structure with direct cell-cell and cell-matrix contacts, whereas traditional 2D cell culture methods fail to mimic the in vivo environment. Consequently, 3D culture technologies are increasingly applied in basic research to obtain cell states closer to those in vivo.

Multicellular spheroids represent one of the most common 3D cell culture systems. Spheroids can be generated from a single cell type or formed through co-culture by combining different cell types. With a cellular microenvironment more analogous to in vivo conditions and enhanced cellular secretory activity, cell spheroids have been widely used in various research fields, including tumor modeling, drug screening, angiogenesis studies, organoid development, tissue regeneration, and 3D bioprinting.

The SpheroX? 96UKit is an ultra-low attachment plate developed by EFL specifically for 3D cell spheroid culture.  Utilizing nano-coating technology, this product forms an ultra-thin hydrophilic coating on the well surface, preventing cell adhesion.  Combined with its U-bottom well structure, cells gradually aggregate to form spheroids.
